Summer Cocktails Perfect for Entertaining at Home

You don’t need an excuse to entertain at home in summer as the warm weather and long days create the perfect backdrop for a backyard BBQ or laidback dinner party.

If there’s one thing every guest craves at a summer soiree it’s a crisp and refreshing drink and we’ve got you covered with these summer cocktails perfect for any occasion.

Orange and Grapefruit Spritz with a Campari Twist

Ingredients for the Campari Ice Cubes:

  • ½ cup Campari
  • ½ cup blood orange juice
  • 1 cup water

Ingredients for Each Cocktail:

  • 30ml botanical gin
  • 60ml grapefruit juice
  • 60ml blood orange juice
  • 3-4 Campari ice cubes
  • Sparking water

Method:

  1. For the ice cubes: combine the Campari, blood orange juice, and water and pour into an ice cube tray. Freeze overnight.
  2. For each cocktail: combine the gin, grapefruit and blood orange juices, and 3-4 Campari ice cubes in a large glass. Top up with sparkling water and garnish with an orange wedge.

Frosé

Ingredients:

  • 1 x 750ml bottle of dry rosé
  • 280g fresh strawberries, sliced, plus more for garnishing
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup vodka
  • 2 tbsp. grenadine

Method:

  1. Pour the rosé into ice cube trays and freeze for at least 8 hours
  2. Combine the strawberry slices and sugar in a blender bowl and leave to steep at room temperature for 10 minutes
  3. Add the vodka, grenadine, and rosé ice cubes to the strawberry and sugar mixture
  4. Blend on high until smooth while enjoying your favourite betting sites
  5. Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh strawberries

Sherry Cobbler

Ingredients:

  • 3 orange slices
  • 1 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 100ml oloroso or amontillado sherry
  • Blueberries and fresh mint to garnish

Method:

  1. Muddle the orange and sugar in a cocktail shaker
  2. Add the sherry and ice cubes
  3. Shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds until well-chilled
  4. Strain into a tall glass filled with crushed ice
  5. Garnish with fresh blueberries and sprigs of mint

Peach and Ginger Cooler

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of ginger ale
  • ½ cup peach juice
  • 2 ripe peaches sliced thinly
  • 1 tbsp. fresh ginger, grated

Method:

  1. In a tall glass jug, combine the ginger ale, peach juice, peach slices, and fresh ginger
  2. Feel free to add a good glug of Bourbon to make an alcoholic version
  3. Serve chilled over ice

Gin, Thyme, and Grapefruit Muddle

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. sugar plus 2 tsp.
  • Chopped thyme
  • Grapefruit wedges
  • Thyme leaves
  • 3 tbsp. botanical gin
  • 80ml fresh grapefruit
  • ¼ cup soda water
  • Sliced grapefruit and thyme sprigs for garnish

Method:

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine 1 tbsp. sugar with the chopped thyme
  2. Rub the rim of a glass with the grapefruit wedge
  3. Dip into the sugar mixture to coat
  4. Muddle the thyme leaves with 2 tsp. sugar and gin in the glass
  5. Add grapefruit juice
  6. Fill the glass with ice and top up with soda water
  7. Garnish with a grapefruit slice and sprig of thyme
